Crew management for teams in the field

Run every crew from one place.

Muster puts your people, tasks, schedules, messages and forms on one live board. The office knows what the field is doing, and every volunteer knows what's next.

  • Android
  • Web dashboard

Apps available now to licensed organizations through TestFlight and Google Play testing. Public App Store and Google Play listings to follow.

Made for teams that run on volunteers

  • Disaster relief ministries
  • Churches & missions
  • Volunteer fire & rescue
  • Nonprofits & food banks
  • Field crews & contractors

The problem

The whiteboard, the spreadsheet and six group chats can't keep up.

Whether it's a storm response, a mission trip or a weekend build, the work changes by the hour. Muster gives every person the same live picture: who's available, which jobs are open, who's on them, and what's done.

Features

Everything your crews need, in their pocket.

Every job, from P1 to done

Raise a task with an address, priority and team size. Crews claim it, start it, ask for more hands, and file a status report. Each job shows how long it has been open.

  • Critical, high and medium priorities
  • Approval for tasks raised in the field
  • Photos, notes and equipment on every task

Crew chat, built in

Group, direct and all-hands broadcast threads, with push notifications on the phone and live updates on the dashboard.

One status everyone understands

Set an event to Mobilize, Staging or No go, and everyone is told at once.

A board for the wins

Share updates with the whole organization, @mention a teammate, and keep morale up on day five.

Know who's on

A shift timeline for every crew, by day or month. Team leads schedule their own people.

“I'm available”

Free volunteers say so with one tap, and the office assigns them work.

The dashboard

Your whole operation on one screen, updated live.

The web dashboard is where admins and office staff run the response: every event, task, person, message and form, updated live as crews report in. And because it's yours, it carries your name, logo and accent color.

Gulf Coast Relief · dashboard
Muster dashboard overview, branded for a relief organization
Overview: open, started and finished work across every active event, what needs attention, and who's free to assign.
  • Live overview

Open, started and finished work across every event, plus who's free. No refresh button.

  • Approvals in one place

Tasks raised in the field and forms sent for sign-off land in queues with a badge, so nothing waits unseen.

  • Every form, searchable

Filter by form, person, status, date, task or event, search the answers, and export to CSV for funders and reports.

  • People, teams and partners

Add people, set roles, build teams and keep partner organizations on file.

  • Fill in forms from the desk

Office staff can send the same forms crews use, without picking up a phone.

  • Configure without code

Forms, task types, event types and locations are all set up right in the dashboard by your admins.

Make it yours

Muster fits the way you already work.

Every organization runs a response differently. Build your own forms, decide who signs them off and shape each kind of job, with no developers, no change requests and no waiting on us.

Form builder
The form builder: a job completion checklist with its questions, a live preview, and a two-step approval route

Your forms, your approval route

Build timesheets, incident reports, checklists and assessments on the dashboard, with a live preview as you go. Crews fill them in on the phone, and a form saved with no signal sends itself once they're back in range.

  • 15 kinds of question, from dates and choices to photos, signatures and locations
  • Questions that appear only when an earlier answer calls for them
  • Approval in steps: a role, a named person, or the sender's own team lead
  • Publishing makes a new version, so every old form still reads correctly
Task types
Task types: tree removal, roof tarp, muck-out and wellness check, each with its own fields and required forms

Every kind of job, set up its own way

A tree removal isn't a wellness check. Give each kind of job the fields it needs, hide the ones it doesn't, and say which forms must be sent, or approved, before the job counts as done.

  • Task types with required, optional and hidden fields
  • Fields of your own, like trunk diameter or water line
  • Required forms: no checklist, no "finished"
  • Event types with their own details and fields
  • Your brand

Send us your logo, name and accent color and we'll brand the sign-in screen, the phone app and the dashboard for you. Volunteers see your organization first.

  • Your places

States, counties, parishes or districts: name your locations list and fill it with the places you actually serve.

  • A record you can trust

Approved forms can't be edited. A correction is a new form linked to the old one, and undecided forms expire after 30 days.

How it works

From set-up to “all done” in three steps.

  1. 01

    Make it yours

We brand the app with your logo and accent color. You build the forms you already use on paper and set up the kinds of job your crews do. On larger plans we build the first ones with you.

  2. 02

    Start an event

Declare a storm response, a project or a weekend build, and everyone is told. Add tasks from the office or the field, assign a team lead, or let crews claim open jobs.

  3. 03

    Crews report back

Status, photos, notes and forms flow back in real time. The office reviews and approves, and every job closes with the paperwork done.

Roles

The right screen for every person.

Admin

Builds forms, task types and approval routes, declares events and manages people and teams.

Office

Runs the dashboard: declares events, creates and assigns tasks, reviews forms, searches and exports submissions, keeps schedules.

Team lead

Claims jobs for the crew, updates status, schedules the team, and signs off their crew's forms when the approval route sends them.

Crew

Sees the next job, fills in forms on the phone, chats with the team, and says when they're free.

Security & reliability

Your information stays yours.

Only the people you add can see your organization's work, and each person sees what their role allows.

  • Access checked on the server

Every request is checked against the person's role. Nothing is trusted to the app alone.

  • Forms that hold up

Every submission keeps the version it was filled in on and a record of each decision. Approved forms can't be changed.

  • Forms that wait for signal

A form filled in with no signal stays safely on the phone and sends itself when the connection comes back.

  • Native apps and web

iOS and Android apps with push notifications, plus a full web dashboard for the office.

Pricing

Every feature on every plan. From $2,000 a year.

One yearly license for your whole organization, priced by the size of your roster. Custom forms, approvals and your own branding are included from the smallest plan up.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Who is Muster for?

Any organization that sends volunteers or crews out to do work: disaster relief ministries, churches and mission teams, volunteer fire and rescue, nonprofits and food banks, and field crews. If you coordinate people across sites, Muster fits.

What devices does it run on?

iPhone and iPad, Android phones, and any modern web browser. The office dashboard is designed for desktop. The phone apps are available to licensed organizations now, and public App Store and Google Play listings are coming soon.

Can we make Muster fit how we already work?

Yes. Your admins build your own forms, choose who approves them, set up each kind of task and event with the fields it needs, and name your own list of locations, all from the dashboard. Nothing needs a developer or an app update: publish a change and the app uses it.

Will it look like our organization?

Yes. We set up your logo, name and accent color for you, and they appear on the sign-in screen, in the phone app and across the dashboard, so volunteers know they're in the right place.

Do forms work without signal?

Yes. Crews can fill in and save a form with no signal at all. It waits on the phone and sends itself when the connection comes back.

How do people join?

An admin or office user adds each person on the dashboard with their name and email, and Muster creates a temporary password to pass along. The person signs in by typing your organization's short name or email domain, and can change the password from the sign-in screen with "Forgot password?".

How long does setup take?

We create your organization and invite your first admin, usually within a day. Your team can declare an event and start assigning work right away, and add your forms and branding as you go. Larger plans include a session where we build your first forms with you.
